RBW – Reg approves…
Getting REG’S approval…
To meet our own standards and having committed to “the system” with CES, we decided to set out to secure REG 100 as proof of design compliance “REG 100 = Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to specific requirements for the electric power train”. To do so, we firstly engaged with the Vehicle Compliance Agency (VCA). An initial first meeting being held at MIRA. Our documentation was released to VCA and our B Sample Car aka Reg (our beautiful Burgundy Roadster) was duly prepared for inspection. The inspection was held at Zytek’s HQ and our vehicle system passed first time!!! RBW could move forward to a “new car registration” and on the 16th December 2019 our RBW Roadster (which was our third proof of concept/test car) passed all compliance. This would now mean our RBW Roadster would be classed ‘as new’ and is currently (as of writing this) adorning a ’69’ registration plate.
During the last quarter of 2019 we also secured “World Wide Manufacture Status” So, 2019 really did end on a high. Now fully registered “Reg” our B sample car, mileage accumulation began in earnest. Testing battery thermals, ride, handling – CES filled the car with data capture computers. Leaving no stone unturned on compliance, continual improvement and safety. When we started out we had no ideas of the complexity and testing required to ensure we could sell RBW vehicles and products with confidence and hence also our slight reticence of the conversion market. In our opinion, safety needs to be controlled by legislation. We have learnt from CES it’s not what you do, it’s what you don’t do that will cause an event.
So there we have it, from three years of pain sweat and tears, to seeing ‘Arty‘ in production (see last weeks news) and then the production of ‘Reg‘ for all of our safety and compliance approval. Its been a long journey and we are so excited to see where it leads.
Next week, our RBW system and Patent approval!
